Hands up for safety
ThePledge© is an engagement program specifically designed to refocus personnel on safety in the workplace.
It can often be challenging to continually make workplace safety interesting or engaging particularly when it is delivered in a similar format that can become invisible.
ThePledge© is a ‘hands on’ approach to re-energising personnel and reinvigorating safety messages throughout the workplace by encouraging active participation in a personal safety declaration by all staff.
The program is delivered in a friendly, social environment where staff are invited to an event, this can be a low key affair with coffee, tea and biscuits or an after work bbq, they are encouraged to have a friendly chat before a 5-10 minute introduction and explanation of the safety program and what their involvement will be.
‘ThePledge©’ sticker. Staff are then invited to sign their stickers and place them on the Safety Wall as a daily reminder of their commitment to safety.
The event can be documented photographically for use in future publications and also, to add a sense of occasion.
This event is then carried out every year on the same day and will come to be known as ‘Sign up for safety day’, where new and current employees renew their commitment.
The ThePledge© program can be established as a one off ‘Sign up for safety day’ event or expanded over a 12 month period with customised initiatives all of which will assist in keeping safety front of mind and continue to engage personnel.
